2013 Goals

Can you believe how fast 2012 has gone? I can not wrap my head around that tomorrow we are in 2013! We are going to go through this post bullet style. Y'all know I love me some bullet points!

Looking Back in 2012

  • Even though I started this blog November 2011 I didn't really start getting into it until June 2012.
  • My family made our first HUGE move June 2012 (from Indiana to Houston)
  • My family made another HUGE move September 2012 (from Houston to Tulsa)
  • Fell in love with our oldest sons school here in Oklahoma.
  • Broke my foot first of April and finally got it fixed in December
  • My mom had 4 surgeries and by December is feeling human again and able to do family activites again. (Her health had been failing for a long time but the good Lord blessed us when she was able to handle all the surgeries).
  • Had my first blate and now Lacey and I are BFF's. She has taught me so much and I am so greatful for her coming into my life!
  • Went to my first blogger conference in September
  • Hosted my first giveaway in October for hitting 50 fabulous followers

Goals for 2013
  • Grow blog more into my business
  • Gain more sponsors ** Starting now ALL my sponsors can participate in the group giveaway. The giveaway will go live between dates of 16th-20th each month.
  • Host monthly giveaways! Who doesn't love a good giveaway!?!? If you would like to participate you will need to be a sponsor. This is a good way to drive traffic to your blog or your business.
  • Go on another blate. I had an absolute blast meeting Lacey and I hope I can continue to meet more awesome bloggers like her!
  • Incorporate more pictures onto the blog. (I got a big girl camera for Christmas Nikon D5100!!!)
  • Post 1-2 recipes with pictures a week. (I'm going to go back and make the ones I've got posted so I can add pictures to it.)

Is there anything that you would like to see more of on this little blog? :)

Sunday Social

Today I am linking up with Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social link up. This week's questions are about NYE so I hope you have fun reading them. If you are going out for NYE please be safe!! :)

I also wanted to remind you guys I am accepting sponsors for the month of January. My prices are cheap and I'd love to have you on my side bar! Please contact me if you want to know more information!

1. Favorite New Years eve you’ve had before.
We have never been real big on doing to much on NYE. When little my parents would dress me up all fancy and take me out to eat and then the tradition carried on once meeting my husband. We ususally go out early but not senior citizen early so we can be off the roads.

2. Are you doing anything for NYE this year and if so what?
Since I just had foot surgery if my pain is under control I think we are all going to go out and eat and come back home.

3. Name a book we should all read come January?

I have discovered the Sylvia Day books and read Bared to You which I thought was really good. This book is a series book which book 2 just came out in October and book 3 doesn't come out until May. I am getting ready to read the second book in this series.

4. What are your new years resolutions?
I am lame and I do not set up resolutions. I just don't think you should set up one day a year to make yourself better. I just feel this is something that you should always try to be doing with yourself. I do however have a few goals set for this fantastic little blog of mine and I can't wait to share them with you with the days to come!  :)

Make it a great Sunday y'all!!!

SANTA I Know Him!!!!

Today is Christmas Eve and that means tonight magic will happen with Santa coming to town! Our oldest son is already counting down until Santa will come. If you follow me on instagram (@linsw00) you will have seen the picture I took that we are ready for Santa to come. I can't tell you how many times both boys have stacked and restacked all the prezzies!

The only thing left on my list today is to go purchase a few items for my fur legged babies. Once that is finished it is home to bake sugar cookies with the family and to bake a chocolate pie for our Christmas dinner tomorrow. Then we will wait for snow to come so Santa can come and land safely on the roof. We will also need some reindeer food, those reindeer will get hungry flying from house to house all over! :)

From my family to yours, we are wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :)

A few goodies

I am really excited that today is Friday. Here in a bit I have another pre op appointment with my doctor this time. Hopefully she will like my toes, I got them done so when she is working on my foot my feet are pretty and not ugly! :)

If you were to meet me in real life you would see that I talk to everyone that I meet. It's totally a family thing; my papaw was the same way, my mom is the same way, and now it has passed on to me. The hubs laughs because he knows I will meet someone whenever we are out. So it was no suprise that when Brayd's teacher and I started a friendship. Mrs. C is the sweetest person ever and she has my sense of humor. Her and I can talk for hours and laugh for hours at the same time. I can cook and bake she can't. She can be all crafty and crochete really cute items, I can't.

Yesterday she text me a little bit before I took Brayd to school to let her know when I was on my way. It was no surprise to get a text from her because well we normally text every morning before school. Once I get to school she runs to her car and brings out this huge good bowl. It took me by surprise!

In my cute little snowman bowl (I'm obbessed with snowmen) she had some candy canes, friendship tea, chex mix, trail mix, hot chocolate, chocolate covered spoons, apple butter, this cookie that taste like a girl scout cookie.

I was taken back that she took the time to make this for me. I am We are totally blessed to have Mrs. C in our lives!

What are your favorite items to get in a goodie bag or bowl? Have a great weekend!!!

Don't forget about this giveaway and this one too!

SAW IT. PINNED IT. DID IT. Cinnamon Roll Cake

Hey guys I think this week is totally flying! I have a huge weekend planned, I am most excited about going to a town close by and look at their lights. We have driven past and these lights are amazing! There are walkways to where you can go look at all the lights. I think being with the family, bundling up, and grabbing some hot chocolate will be a blast!

Today I am linking up with Katie and Steph to show off our pinterest projects we have been doing. Today I am going to show you a Cinnamon Roll Cake that I have recently made and it is amazing!

Cake Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Cinnamon Swirl Ingredients:
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoon flour
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2/3 cups nuts (optional)
Glaze:
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 5 Tablespoons heavy cream, milk or half & half
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees (F).  Prepare a 9×13 baking pan with cooking spray, and set aside.  In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.  Add milk, eggs and vanilla, and beat with a hand or stand mixer until just combined.  Stir in 4T of melted butter, and pour into prepared pan.  Set aside and prepare the cinnamon swirl.
In a medium bowl, beat together softened butter, cinnamon, brown sugar and flour until smooth and creamy.  Stir in nuts, if using.  Drop by large spoonful over the top of the cake.  Use a knife to lightly swirl the cinnamon through the cake batter.  Bake for 25-30 minutes (mine took 30 minutes) or until a toothpick/cake tester comes out nearly clean.
While the cake is baking, make the glaze.  Combine powdered sugar, cream and vanilla in a small bowl. Stir with a fork until the mixture is smooth.  Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake. **I poked holes in my cake so the icing could get down into the cake too.**

Here is the pin that was my inspiration!
